DPI

- DPI is abbrevated as Dots Per Inch.
- Number of dots in a printed inch.
- Used as a form of resolution measurement for printers,scanners, digital cameras and displays.
- In printing, dots per inch(dpi) is the measure of printed image quality on the paper.
Higher the DPI number, the higher the resolution and detail of the image is.
The more dot's the higher the quality of the print.
Myth of DPI
- Many people seem that DPI setting within a digital photo as a measure of quality.
Photo set to 1000 dpi Photo set to 10 dpi
Do you notice any difference between these two images, usually no.
- DPI setting within a digital photo is nothing to do with digital image quality.
- DPI is a measure of quality of only paper print.
