Anti-aliasing

Anti aliasing is the smoothing of the image or sound caused by aliasing.

Smoothing the jagged edge appearence in an image or Smoothing a distorted signal by applying various techniques that add data or filter out unwanted noise is called anti-aliasing.

With images, approach include adjusting pixel positions or setting pixel intensities so that there is a more gradual transition between the color of a line and the background color.

Subpixel antialiased text.Individual components of the pixels are enabled to create the overall effect.

Anti aliasing of sound include removing aliases by eliminating frequencies above half the sampling frequencies.
